Julie Clement is a Distinguished Professor Emerita with Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, where she spent 16 years teaching legal research, writing, and drafting. Julie connects her subject matter expertise with plain language to create legally-compliant information that people can use and understand. 

 

Julie spent more than a decade as editor in chief of The Clarity Journal, the international journal promoting plain legal language.  She is now Clarity's president.  Julie also serves on the North America-based Center for Plain Language board of directors and is a member of the International Plain Language Federation and PLAIN (the Plain Language Association International).
